The Dirty Details of Detox Text : COMPASS

Getting ‘clean’
Some four millenia back, the world had little knowledge of diseases. Although neither medicine nor doctors existed at the time, the human race still managed to make it this far.
By the grace of human development, medical progress has since focused on ridding people of unwanted conditions, yet diseases continue to evolve in frequency and severity; and this never-ending plight of pathology serves as a humbling reminder that there is still much to be discovered.
In retrospect, traditional remedies all originated from natural sources and were used not only to cure but also to prevent illness. Getting well did not depend on operations or eating countless little pills, but rather living a life by traditional rules and beliefs, defined by trial and error. Most importantly, those presently-outdated methods never seemed to inflict harm.
Mind and body
Water therapy is one of the
oldest methods in medicine that has returned to popularity today in
various spa treatments. Bathing in mineral water, hot springs and even steam saunas all share the same benefits of improving blood circulation and detoxifying through perspiration. The sense of smell was also a focus of traditional care, particularly with the use of oil-based plants such as mints and eucalyptus to help expand the
trachea and improve oxygen intake. Even before the age of acupuncture, old Chinese medicine used rock therapies and intensive meditation in
combination with massage to help
circulation of blood and bile, thereby enhancing immunity and muscle strength.
In a nutshell, human wisdom from any culture and age traditionally focused on ridding the body of toxins and promoting immunity. By the same principle, well-known contemporary detoxification emphasizes the cleansing of the bowels where all kinds of wastes have accumulated. The threats of these toxins are further exacerbated by increasingly-contaminated food products containing carcinogens and other unwanted substances, unlike the food eaten in the past. Detox is a good preventive measure for your body, provided you have the time and resources to undertake it.
Regardless of status, everyone should choose to consume only toxin-free sustenance such as organic vegetables, and ignore overly-grilled meats and foods that are deep-fried in repeatedly-used oil. Just adopting these healthy eating habits alone can prevent a lot of troubles in the future.
Remember: each toxin consumed accumulates over time, and one day you will reach the point of no-return. You don't want to live with that, do you?
