This summer, temperatures are rising upwards of 40° C and we’re practically losing our minds. Some even say it’s the hottest year ever recorded, or at the very least, it’s getting hotter and hotter every year.

The cause of such high temperatures can’t be blamed on global warming alone. Our behavior and attitudes need to change. For decades we’ve discussed the threat of global warming, but have done little to prevent this impending climate change. And it’s going to take more than recycled shopping bags to make a difference. This month, let’s take a look at one business that’s serious about global warming and saving our environment. Less talk, more action.

Airport Greenery Green Serviced Apartment and Hotel didn’t get its green name because of a paint job. Rather, this serviced apartment and hotel is serious about its ‘green concept’, dedicated to reducing energy consumption and natural resource exploitation.

Recognized by the Ministry of Energy, this apartment and hotel applies solar power and heat from an air conditioning compressor to produce the hot water supply for the entire place, eliminating the need for a water heater. By using solar power and air compressed heat, Airport Greenery helps guests save on electricity costs, as well as common service fees. Additionally, two-thirds of the electricity used for aisle lights comes from wind and solar power. Among the many hotels and apartments in the North, Airport Greenery boasts first place in the practical application of solar power, wind power, and air conditioning compressed heat. The owner of this leading green complex commented, “I wanted to make a great start and set a good example. Hopefully, in the future more and more hotels and homes will turn to alternative energy. And by doing it this way, we can help save our environment.”

Apart from their global awareness, another reason Airport Greenery is a great accommodation choice, is its location. As the advertisement says, it’s less than a minute’s drive from the apartment and hotel to the airport.

As a native of Chiang Mai, I would say it’s half true (depending on if you get stuck at the red light at the intersection!). Otherwise, it’s about right. Either way, Airport Greenery is still very close to many conveniences and facilities. For shopping, you’re only a few steps from the Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport mall, or a minute’s drive to Tesco Lotus, Rimping Supermarket. It’s also very easy to get catch the public bus or a taxi. On Saturday night, enjoy Wualai night market Walking Street, also not far from this location. You’ll find many food stalls and vendors along the way, waiting to serve you truly authentic Thai fare at a very cheap price.

All 105 rooms are decorated in a European, classic luxury style. Every piece of furniture and decorative item is carefully selected and of high quality. The four types of rooms offered here are studio, superior, suite and family suite. In the suite set up, you’ll have all the facilities of an expensive condominium, i.e., flower wallpaper, European style furniture, mini kitchen with cooker and hood, microwave, fridge, a big screen television in the bedroom and living room. The details of studio and superior rooms may vary, but the luxury and conveniences are not much different.

Services here are as appreciable as those of other leading hotels, and Airport Greenery doesn’t miss a beat. From the 60-car parking area, to swimming pool, laundry service, security guard, 32 CCTV cameras, an American food restaurant and 12mb Internet, life here is very comfortable. Whether your stay is monthly, weekly or daily, you’ll not be deprived of the highest standard of service provided here.

Taking into account all the amenities mentioned so far, there is no doubt that Airport Greenery is one of the most ideal places to stay, without breaking the bank. It may not be the cheapest accommodation available, but considering what you get for you money, I’d say it’s one offering the best value and worth every baht. And to top it off, you’ll feel good knowing you’re playing your part in helping save our planet. A little goes a long way and there’s no better time to start.
