.gifChiang Mai is a place where you can find food, on nearly every street corner. From small, noodle kiosks to international fine dining restaurants, this city offers dynamic diversity in tastes and atmospheres.

.gifImagine how amazing it would be if we could bring every leading restaurant in Chiang Mai to one place, where you could wander around in a foodland-like environment.

.gifWell, ready yourself for the upcoming “Chiang Mai International Food Festival 2011,” located at the Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport from 14-18 July, which will surely lead you to having great culinary experiences.

.gifThe Chiang Mai International Food Festival (CIFF) will be divided into four areas: food culture pavilions, product booths, gourmet tours, as well as events such as food shows, a barista contest and workshops (mostly bilingual, with some multilingual).

.gifEach of the 10 cultural pavilions will be presented by the embassies and consulates of each country, cooperating with top restaurants in Chiang Mai.

.gifThe following is a list of CIFF’s participating countries and some information about what each will be offering.

.gifJapan will bring you its summer in Sendai. Try original, classic Japanese dishes such as udon, tempura and ramen. The highlight of this booth will be Japanese healthy food while focusing on bringing out the natural flavors rather than using enhancers.

.gifWith China, you will be mesmerized by the Chinese food parade, including chicken that is marinated in Chinese rum, with sesame oil and jelly fish salad, and shark fin soup from a leading Chinese restaurant in-town, Jia Tong Heng. Experience Siao Long Pao, a Chinese traditional dish, or a large dumpling with a savory filling and hot soup inside, from Shanghai Siao Long Pao.

.gifKorea - apart from K series and Kpop becoming evermore popular (especially in Asia and Latin America), Korean food is also becoming more desired and reputable. At CIFF, learn how to make different kinds of Kimchi while enjoying mouth-watering dishes such as Bibimbub, Kimbub, Poolkoki and more…

.gifIndia: Step into the world of herbs and spices, as this pavilion will spice you up with various Indian dishes freshly made from the kitchen of Spicy Bollywood. Dishes such as roti, butter chicken, aloo gobi, dhal, somosa and Indian desserts such as gulad jamun will be served.

.gifAmerica will be offering imported fruits and products combined with American food from the Steak House Restaurant. Participants will find pork spare ribs, turkey sandwiches, strawberry rhubarb, as well as cherry pies and apple pies at this booth.

.gifThe French pavilion will welcome you with French haute cuisine from Le Beau Lieu, a five-star restaurant from Bangkok that has just opened a new branch here in Chiang Mai. In this booth, there will be a cocktail show from Sompong Boonsri, a 32-year experienced bartender.

.gifGermany will be providing renowned items such as grilled sausages and a variety of beers such as Weihenstephaner and Erdinger from Horeca Supply Company. Taste home-style German food made by Olaf Kujawa, the experienced caterer from Germany.

.gifItaly will be exhibiting the complete set of Italian food culture - from appetizers and desserts to aperitifs and digestifs. Premium Italian cheese and wine from Bounissimo and Why Not Restaurant will also be offered.

.gifThe Spanish pavilion will bring with it colors of the Spanish coast via Spanish food. Great wine, like Vistana and Mataparda, and Spanish cheese like Manchego, will be on sale at special prices.

.gifPeru will of course be providing its tasty, Peruvian treats.

.gifThe Thai area will offer region-specific delights such as Lanna and Central Thai food, hot and spicy Southern dishes, and fruits from all over Thailand. Try the true Thai taste while studying Thai culture via fruit and vegetable carving demonstrations and on-site chili paste-making.
