.gifThe recently-opened De Lanna Hotel is not only packing a punch when it comes to a fantastic place to stay in the old city, but it is also offering a perfect place to dine, for guests and non-guests. This contemporary Lanna-style building, located in the center of town and close to the Sunday Walking Street, is a really convenient place to enjoy many tourist spots and town facilities.

.gif Thai or European style, there’s a big emphasis on presentation, with the chef taking a strong lead with the finely garnished presentation of the dishes. But it’s not all about looks; this food is quite simply second to none.

.gifWe couldn’t decide where to start but went for the tuna steak with wasabi sauce, a Japanese/Western fusion dish that serves up medium rare tuna on a stick, with a unique wasabi cream sauce in an orange rind. This worked really well because the soft seared tuna goes exceptionally well with the house recipe wasabi sauce, giving a hot and strong flavor - milder than the normal wasabi served with Japanese sushi, making the taste more Western.

.gifWe also got stuck into the roasted duck with raspberry sauce. Now we can all get a bit too used to eating roast duck with orange sauce, but the creative talents at the De Lanna Restaurant have made it special and the sweet and sour taste of the raspberries is awesome. We also indulged in the delights of deep fried shrimp spring rolls and sautéed prawns and tamarind sauce: all were fantastic.

.gifIf you are looking for the perfect ‘fusion’ of modern Western dining in partnership with Asian influences, in a sumptuous setting, then this is the place to come.
