Renew Your Smile Text : Jiratorn S. Images: SP
It is a fact that Chiang Mai is one of the most popular of tourist health destinations, and not only because you get top-quality treatment here at amazingly low costs, but also because for the tourist there is so much on offer also - a glorious natural environment and cultural activities of amazing variety and antiquity.
Nevertheless, the health services are a major and growing attraction world-wide, and if it's your smile that needs upgrading, where else in the world can you think of that equals Chiang Mai. Because if Thailand as a whole is the smile-country par excellence, Chiang Mai is its capital. And in this respect - brushing up your smile, so to speak - what could be more appropriate than doing a course of dental bleaching here? If you're on for it, you'll find that Chiang Mai has several clinics that offer high quality service at competitive prices.
Now let's see what you need to know before having your teeth bleached.
Generally, dental bleaching comes in two catagories: clinic bleaching and home bleaching. Each involves different equipment and methods. Bleaching teeth at a clinic tends to be a convenient and popular treatment, since you put yourself in the hands of clinicians whose expertise and services are of guaranteed high quality. In this type of bleaching, laser and cold light are used as the catalysts with an L.E.D (Light Emitting Diode) 30-minute application on teeth comprising the remedial process. On the other hand, home bleaching is carried out by a less complicated process. You buy the bleaching tray, bleach and toothpaste specifically made for the process, at your neighbouring pharmacy and find how easy it is to do it yourself at home.
If home bleaching sounds too complicated for you, you might like to look at the alternative methods widely used today.
1. Though using whitening toothpaste is the easiest and cheapest way to beautify your teeth, it is liable to cause irritation to the oral tissues if you use it regularly. So it is probably not worth your while to spend almost 30 days on this method just to find that your teeth are not whitened as much as you expect.
2. Laser bleaching technology tends to be popular today. However, it usually leads to dental hypersensitivity during or after the process. And though this side effect disappears within 45 minutes, it is possible that you may have to return to the clinic to have the bleaching carried out again a few weeks later.
3. Using the bleach is quite a complicated method. The dentist will give you the bleaching tray and bleach with all instructions to be followed at home. The whole process takes approximately 5-8 days. However, as noted, you can easily get dental hypersensitivity during or after the bleaching as well as irritation to oral tissues caused by the bleach.
4. Cold light bleaching usually proves the most comfortable and gentlest way of achieving the result you're after. It takes only 30 minutes and has no negative side effects. Also this method of bleaching provides you with the most effective result.
Before the bleaching, there are 3 main things you need to attend to. First, you must have the dentist check your oral health as well as diagnose the appropriate treatment. Also you will have the opportunity to tell the dentist if you suffer from any dental hypersensitivity.
So following this treatment, your teeth get bleached and you are ready to show your shiny new smile to your friends. However, it's necessary to bear in mind the several effects that follow bleaching. One is the dental hypersensitivity already mentioned. Also, you should understand that the results of bleaching will be effective for some 2 - 3 years only. In order to maintain maximum whiteness, you are expected to avoid smoking, drinking tea and coffee, and consuming food and alcoholic drinks that have strong colouring and will therefore diminish the lustre that bleaching has given your teeth. It follows also that you need to give your teeth maximum care, brushing them regularly and frequently, and having them checked at least once a year.
